I'm Ulli, the developer of 1stMover extensions. Most 1stMover extensions are free of charges or fees and this is the forum site where you can get free support for these extensions. The word "free" is important and it means too, that I'm doing these free things in my free time and sometime I'm not able to answer all the questions posted here. I would like to ask for your patience.

If you want to help me (writing manuals, answering the posts here) then this will be very appreciated.

Before posting new post, please read the documentation and the previous forum posts as answering the same questions takes a lot of time which is missing for developing and for answering not yet answered posts.

Thank you very much for your understanding, Ulli

Problems using bit.ly - links not shortened etc... 1 Year, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello Ulli,
I'm having a bit of trouble with the bit.ly shortener service & ATNG pro - I've set up both Twitter & FB, & set up the bit.ly service (BTW I've used bit.ly before, - manually - on our Twitter account & had no problems, so I know it works).

I am getting no error messages from AutoTweet either(I did with the first attempt as I put in wrong username initially.... ) and the articles are posted to Twitter & FB however the url posted to Twitter is not shortened at all, and the url posted to FB is shortened but it doesn't work properly (it just leads to a white page when clicked....).

I've checked on bit.ly & the new articles are not listed, however it is showing 2 new clicks for today (which could be me or someone else clicking on the new articles posted via AutoTweet perhaps - as I haven't posted anything else for over a week).

I need to use bit.ly as it is excellent for tracking the clicks etc.

Any advice?
Regards, Karen

Hi!

Please enable debugging mode in AutoTweet Component preferences and post the debugging info displayed when article is saved.

Hi Ulli,
I enabled debug mode, saved an article & got the following 2 messages:

1st Message (Blue):

* AutoTweet - status NOT updated, manually mode is enabled (message must be published from AutoTweet backend), article id = 229
* Successfully Saved Article

2nd Message (Yellow):

AutoTweet debug mode - message log stored to database, article id = 229

Another thing I've noticed today: I re-checked our Twitter & FB pages, and the Twitter post I did yesterday is now shortened when viewing from my admin page of Twitter (& leads to the correct webpage) but from the Twitter homepage view it displays as shortened initially then changes & is not shortened.......(but it still works) and on Facebook the shortened URL (which just leads to a blank page) has the exact same shortened URL as the Twitter one which works....(With bit.ly, the post I did yesterday is now showing up btw).

PS: I'm posting from the back-end rather than from the front-end.... does that matter? / could that be the problem??? (I'd really rather not post from from the front though....)
-Also, I'm using the latest AutoTweet NG Pro Version, Joomla SEF is enabled, php version 5.2.13 & DB version 5.1.30 - Sorry for omitting that before) - KB

This confuses me. Mmmhh.

1. What I need is the debug info, when the article is posted to Twitter/FB. When you have enabled manually mode, this info appears when the message is published in AutoTweet backend (In this debug infoissome information about urls...).

2. If this is an option for you, you can send me an PMS with temporary admin account to your backend and will have a closer look on this (Please snd me alo links to your site, Twitter and Facebook).

Hi Ulli,
Confuses me too!!! -

1/ The debug info is in the third post on this page (the "Blue" & "Yellow" messages were the only messages displayed after I enabled debug & posted an article to Twitter & FB.)

2/ I've set up a temp admin account for you & have PM's you the details.

Thanks for the help,
Regards Karen
