I'm Ulli, the developer of 1stMover extensions. Most 1stMover extensions are free of charges or fees and this is the forum site where you can get free support for these extensions. The word "free" is important and it means too, that I'm doing these free things in my free time and sometime I'm not able to answer all the questions posted here. I would like to ask for your patience.

If you want to help me (writing manuals, answering the posts here) then this will be very appreciated.

Before posting new post, please read the documentation and the previous forum posts as answering the same questions takes a lot of time which is missing for developing and for answering not yet answered posts.

Thank you very much for your understanding, Ulli

Love Auto Tweet - but new problem just came up 2 Years, 3 Months ago
I installed Auto Tweet about five days ago and have loved it since. But about eight hours ago, I ran into a problem all of a sudden that I can't figure out.

After submitting an article it no longer published to Twitter, instead I receive this message:

AutoTweet - no connection to twitter, err = 110 (Connection timed out)

Additionally, when I go to the Auto Tweet Manager under the Components menu, I can no longer access the "Information" link. When I try, I receive this message:

AutoTweet - error reading INI file www.1st-movers.com/download/autotweet.ini

I'm pretty new to Joomla and operating a web site altogether, so any help here would be appreciated. I operate a small news site and post about 40 articles per day. I allow message cleanup every five days, so I don't think that's the cause.

This plugin has worked like a charm until now, but I'm guessing this is not a problem with Auto Tweet. Do I have a problem with my web host? If my web host is blocking something, can someone give me directions on how to explain this problem to them? I'm not too familiar with those kind of "behind the scenes" technical details.

For anyone else, I would highly recommend Auto Tweet. Like I said, it has worked perfectly until now, but I have a hunch my problem does not involve the plugin itself, but rather with my web host.

Thank you
nathan

Hi,

this looks like problems with the connectivity from you server to the web or like some configuration problems.

Do you use sockets or CURL? (see component options)
For a test you should change this option.

If booth options (CURL and sockets) does not work, you should:

1. Enable Joomla system debugging in global configuration (set also Error Reporting to 'maximum') to get more information about the problem.

2. Contact your admin/provider and ask if something has changed (php, ports, ...) and ask about support fpr sockets/curl.

Thank you very much for your help. I just got my problem corrected, and as I guessed, the problem I mentioned above had nothing to do with the Auto Tweet component or plugin. It was all on my web host.

Just in case anyone else runs into a similar problem, what happened was that another web site on our shared server was compromised. Therefore, my web host "locked" a lot of the services on the server we share with someone else who doesn't know how to keep their information confidential.

As far as the Auto Tweet component, it's once again working perfectly.

Keep up the good work!
nathan
